HOW TOP DRAFT PICKS ARE DOING AT THE NBA SEASON HALFWAY MARK
The 2020 NBA Draft class has been quite a surprise to all, as the 2020-21 season reaches the halfway mark. First of all, the rookies selected in the draft on Nov. 18 had zero-to-no time to even play games with the other professionals in the league, apart from practicing with their teammates and preparing for the season that began on Dec. 22. Never in history has a group of young NBA prospects had to stop playing for months while dealing with a pandemic and lockdowns across th

BASKETBALL UNTIL THE END: A SPORTS INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS JACKSON
Chris Jackson: photo from Aaron Badibo Las Vegas native Chris Jackson, a 6-foot, 3-inch forward for the Saints men’s basketball team, is now into his second season on campus. He chose to play at Mt. Hood as during his recruiting visit, he felt at ease around all the staff and players and felt like he would be more cared for here than at any other college. Chris brings a lot to the team, with a quality work ethic, his slashing his wayes to the basket, and locking down on the d

COVID-19 PUTS A STOP TO SPRING SPORTS
Web Photo Spring athletics at MHCC has taken a hiatus this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to cancel all spring sports “was initiated by the Northwest Athletic Conference office, and then supported by the college,” said Kim Hyatt, dean of health, physical education, athletics, aquatics, and recreation at MHCC. The spring sports canceled at Mt. Hood include men’s baseball, women’s softball, and both men’s and women’s track and field competitions. That left sev

KICKING THE STEREOTYPES
Photo by Maysee Thao|The Advocate I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I never really grew up having an interest in sports. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that my first- and second-ever Portland Timbers soccer game filled me with many ranges of feelings – from a rising sense of patriotism to disappointment, from a feeling of massive excitement and optimism to devastating sadness and sorrow, and from a moment of pleasure to a moment of envy and jealousy. SUSPENSE, POWER, AND SUPER BOWL ‘LIV’
It is a great week to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Regardless of whether your team won the game this year, we can all agree that Super Bowl LIV on Sunday was significant for many reasons. As for the football itself, this game was too close for comfort. Sports bettors everywhere were probably sweating the entire time. Many 49er fans have expressed their utter disappointment to me this week, and, as an Atlanta Falcons fan, I’m just saying it could have been a lot worse (see:

He is the type of player any coach would want on their team. He added 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots against a tough PCC squad. The Saints did not go down without a fight.
