MHCC’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM HOLDS DOWN FOURTH IN THE REGION

Mt. Hood Community College volleyball has reached the middle portion of its 2026 season with a 9-7 overall record and a 4-2 record in conference play. This puts the Mt. Hood Saints in an impressive position, sitting fourth in the NWAC South Region and No. 11 in the NWAC Coaches Poll.
Freshman libero Kendall Martinez was also named NWAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Sept. 23 after helping MHCC earn two home victories. Martinez recorded 42 digs across two matches, averaging 5.25 digs per set and placing her in second for digs per set overall. She also recorded four aces and five assists while making just one serve-receive error on 35 attempts.
Martinez’s performance came as the Saints were just continuing to establish themselves in the South Region. Mt. Hood swept Rogue 3-0 and fought hard against Southwestern Oregon, securing the win after five sets 3-2. According to NWAC, Martinez’s performance against Southwestern Oregon helped create momentum for the Saints.
Since the award, Mt. Hood fell to Clackamas Community College 3-1 at home on Oct. 3.
The Saints host their next match against Chemeketa Community College on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in the MHCC Gym. The match will be in support of the Dig Pink Fundraiser to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
