STUDENT FINANCE COUNCIL COMPLETES PROCESS OF BUDGETS, PENDING APPROVAL FROM MHCC BOARD

Pending final approval from the MHCC District Board of Education, the college’s Student Finance Council has completed the process of allocating student fee revenues for Mt. Hood’s athletic and co-curricular programs for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

Representatives of the programs receiving funds met several times this winter, and the Finance Council determined the budgeted amounts in early February. Each group brought a different spending history and need to the table.

The total proposed budget for the 2021-22 year for all activities and groups is $532,649.50 – an increase of $132,835.50 from the current year, or 33.2%.

The proposed budgets for the upcoming academic year 2021-22 are as follows for each activity and club:

Associated Student Government (ASG) $66,952.00 (same as 2020-21 adopted budget).

ASG Student Senate $18,600.00 (same as 2020-21).

Student Activities $41,023.00 (same).

Forensics (speech and debate) $22,973.50 ($2,063.50 increase from 2020-21 – 9.9 %).

The Advocate $16,510.00 ($7,449.00 increase – 82.2%).

Venture magazine $3,625.00 ($2,025.00 increase – 126.6%).

Perceptions Magazine $6,512.00 ($814.00 increase – 14.3%).

KMHD2 streaming audio $12,733.00 (reinstated budget).

Rho Theta (honor society) $7,068.00 (same).

Saints Athletics Department $336,653.00 ($107,751.00 increase – 47.1%).
