VISUAL ARTS GALLERY REOPENS WITH YEARLY FACULTY EXHIBIT
Mt. Hood Community College’s Visual Arts Gallery is a serene place perfect for those looking to spend some quiet time admiring local artists’ work. Currently on display is the Visual Arts Faculty exhibit, featuring work by MHCC faculty, across a variety of media, including painting and ceramics. The free exhibit runs through Oct. 22, in the Visual Arts Gallery, located in building VA19.
Gallery exhibits often include receptions where visitors can meet the artists and learn more about the exhibit itself. The Visual Arts Faculty Exhibit includes a reception on Oct. 8. Receptions are sometimes held in the gallery and at times they are held in the attached Visual Arts Theater. These receptions are a wonderful time to enjoy the art on display with other people who are also interested in the experience.
If you fall in love with a piece on display, you may have the opportunity to bring it home. Some of the pieces are sold by the artists through Nathan Orosco, who oversees the Visual Arts Gallery and teaches various visual arts courses at MHCC. Most exhibits are on display for less than a month, so if you’re interested in admiring or purchasing local art, visiting regularly ensures you don’t miss any exhibitions.
Visiting the gallery is free during regular business hours Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. Visits on Friday and Saturday are available by appointment only and can be scheduled by contacting 503-491-7309.
Information about future exhibits and receptions can be found at the gallery or by visiting the MHCC Visual Arts Gallery section of the MHCC website, in the Community Resources tab.
