NEW ADA LINES:
The school is adding blue lines on campus, intended to help students find accessible entrances and elevators. The lines are still being added so most buildings do not yet have them, but you can still look at the display maps on campus to find accessible entrances.
SOLAR POWER DOCKS:
There are solar-powered picnic tables scattered across campus. These tables are made of recycled material and provide four power outlets and two USB power ports each. You can use them to charge your phone, laptop etc. – great for when you want to study outside.
STUDENT UNION:
The Student Union is a place for students to hang out, meet new people, and relax. The area has plenty of seating, snacks, charging areas, a microwave, fireplace, piano, games such as Ping-Pong, air hockey, and more. It also is home to MHCC’s the Multicultural and Diversity Resources Center and Associated Student Government.
Many organized student activities are hosted in the Student Union, so keep an eye out for those!
LOCKERS:
Did you know you can rent a locker on campus? At the Student Union you can rent a locker on campus for a $5 deposit per term. All you need to do is go to the front desk and ask about locker rentals, and staff there will give you a slip to fill out and take the $5 payment – which is completely refunded if the locker is fully cleaned out by the end of the term.
Certain departments on campus also have lockers available for students, such as the theatre and health professions departments/lockers. Ask your department about what might be available to you.
ST. HELENS ROOM:
Located in Room 2796 at the end of the Academic Center is the St. Helens Room, a small lounge available for students to relax, hang out, and study. Room amenities include sinks, microwaves, and seating. It’s a nice, secluded space to relax or work if you are already on the north side of campus – generally open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.
COMPUTER LAB 1451:
The Computer Lab in Room 1451 gives students access to PC and Mac computer stations for college-related work. The computer lab also provides printing, Tech help, Wi-Fi, and tutoring to all students. Lab hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday-Saturday (closed on Sunday).
LIBRARY GET YOUR MHCC ID CARD:
The Student Help Desk in the Library is where you can get your MHCC ID card. To get your MHCC ID you need to bring valid photo identification and know your student ID number. The Help Desk staff will take your photo and print your ID card in a few minutes. There’s no need for an appointment.
FIND COURSE RESERVE BOOKS:
Course reserve textbooks are available for in-person course students. The MHCC Library usually only keeps one copy of a textbook, so you can check out a course reserve book for a two-hour, four-hour, 24-hour, 48-hour session – even up to seven days. Some books are restricted to library use only. The library allows you to take photos of the book or use the book scanner there, so you can have copies of the chapters you need. You may request books online or go directly to the Circulation Desk in the library.
At the Circulation Desk you can also get help with reserving laptops, calculators, and more. For more information, go to mhcc.edu/Library or call the Library at 503-491-7161.
SHOWERS:
Students are free to use the showers on campus, which can be found in the pool and gym locker rooms inside the Health & Physical Education buildings. Make sure to have your valid student ID.
