Oregon senator Ron Wyden spoke at Mt. Hood Community College on September 26th, 2025. The event saw several dozens of local Oregonians attending; the event lasted over an hour. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions until the event concluded.

Various topics were discussed: local, national and international. Seconds after Ron Wyden picked up the microphone, a voice from the rear of the audience was heard shouting. The attendee persistently spoke over the senator—voicing her concerns over U.S. involvement and aide to Israel, but was shortly escorted out of the meeting.

Senator Wyden immediately addressed the audience, assuring his commitment to hearing others speak. The first question asked in the event was by a retired postal worker who asked how the pardoning powers of the president can be amended in the consitution, and if it could be revoked as part of the president’s authority. Senator Wyden responded, stating “it starts at the grassroots level and moves up.”

He would mention several widely discussed current events seen in today’s mainstream media, often criticizing President Trump over his policies and the recent scrutiny the president has received. In particular, he criticized the recent “ICE raids” in Portland and throughout the United States.

The event lasted more than an hour and included fiery debate and a constant back and forth. Other attendees expressed concerns over social security and health care. Certain subjects  were brought up more commonly than others, such as the Middle East and President Trump.
