The Mt. Hood Community College women’s cross-country team secured a seventh-place overall finish at the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Southern Region Championships in late October. The regional championships took place bright and early at Bushnell University Golf Course and were hosted by Lane Community College. Cross-country teams, both women’s and men’s, stood ready after weeks of preparation.
“Their performances reflect the team's progress heading into the final stretch of the season.”
MHCC’s women’s team recorded three new personal records by the end of the course. Sophomore Isabelle Amundson was an especially impressive, finishing the women’s 6K race with a time of 30:31.8. Amundson showed no signs of slowing down as she carried her PR streak through every meet this season. Freshmen Zaki Armas and Alison Geringer also finished out the 6K strong, each setting personal records. Their performances reflect the team’s progress heading into the final stretch of the season.
Coming up next is the NWAC Cross-Country Championships on Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. in Spokane, Washington. The course is set to go along the Spokane River, challenging each runner to take on the natural terrain. MHCC’s cross-country and track & field are asking for your help in supporting the teams by donating to their fundraiser at org.eteamsponsor.com/ETS/supportUs/1280290276. Donations go toward program funding and resources like uniforms and equipment that directly support the athletes.
